ANTIQUES AND FURNISHINGS!

Here we go! Today we have 7 wonderful vendors in the Downtown Blanco
Antiques and Furnishings' section of Rain Bird Gallery. It is really turning
into an Antique Mall with a vast variety of products! The offerings include
Antiques, Collectibles, Memorabilia and Home Decor (including retro and
vintage) for every room of the house. On October 21, 2011 at 5:00PM we will
have the official Ribbon Cutting for this endeavor. Wine, cheese and
crackers will be served. Please come and
celebrate with us!

The party continues on October 22nd from 10:00AM to 5:30PM as we
celebrate our annual Open House at Rain Bird Gallery. It certainly will
prove to be a fun weekend. More details will be shared in the October Newsletter.

FEATURED ARTIST: MARK PERSYN

Trail to Luchenbach by Mark Persyn

Mark Persyn was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1960. After graduating from The University of Texas @ San Antonio with a bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, he began a career as an airbrush illustrator. For the next 17 years he created illustrations for clients such as Pepsi Cola, Sea World, Blue Bell Creameries, Corona Brewing Company, Time Warner Cable and SouthwAirlines. By 1995, computers became advanced enough that Mark began rendering his illustrations digitally.

Mark's painting style is realism and is achieved entirely with a painting knife. The small, thick colorful strokes of paint blend together at a distance in a technique known as "optical blending".

FOR THE ARTIST:

Last newsletter I recommended, I'd rather be in the studio!: The Artist's No-Excuse Guide to Self-Promotion by Alyson B. Stanfield. In this book the author reminds us how important our contacts and relationships are to us as we share our art. All of us know about 150 people she explains! ---Food for thought!
